Participation is institution-led. Students and academic staff may draw outstanding works to the attention of their Institution-based Laureate Committee, but only the authorised Committee may formally enter a work into the competition.
If you are interested in having your work considered, ensure that your thesis, project, dissertation or other eligible academic work is outstanding and of the highest scholarly quality. You may then confidently bring it to the attention of your Institution-based Laureate Committee for assessment and review.
You should also ensure that the work has been properly submitted to the National Student Publication Database and that a valid NDN has been obtained.
If you believe that the thesis, project, dissertation or other eligible work of one of your students is outstanding and of the highest scholarly quality, you may confidently bring it to the attention of your Institution-based Laureate Committee for assessment and review.
Your recommendation does not itself constitute an entry. The Institution-based Laureate Committee must conduct its own assessment and follow the approved institutional process.
Ensure that eligible academic staff have been formally appointed to the Institution-based Laureate Committee, and that authorised Committee accounts have been activated. Ensure that your institution is properly enrolled within the NERD ecosystem,
The institution is responsible for assessing eligible works, approving its official entries and ensuring that each entry is submitted truthfully and under institutional authority.
The pathway is designed to preserve institutional responsibility, regional balance, academic quality, transparency and national accountability.
Only eligible academic staff formally appointed by the institution should be designated as Institution Laureate Committee members. No person should ever be designated merely to give that person access to the Laureate portal.
The NERD Focal Officer or NERD Records Officer is not a Laureate Committee member. Their duty is to implement institution's approval regarding local committee members.
Committee members may act only within their approved institutional, regional or national scope.
Reviews eligible works, selects official institutional entries and submits them under oath.
Evaluates entries within its geopolitical zone and promotes deserving works to the national stage.
Conducts final national evaluation and determines the approved outcomes for the award cycle.
An appeal is not a fresh application and does not create a new entry. Where the rules of an award cycle permit an appeal, it must be submitted by the authorised Institution-based Laureate Committee through the designated appeal process. Appeals are considered and managed only by the National Laureate Committee.
A thesis, project, dissertation or related academic work may already have been deposited in NERD and assigned a National Document Number. That alone does not place the work in the competition. It becomes an official National Laureate entry only after formal assessment, selection, approval and submission by the authorised Institution-based Laureate Committee.
Every work proposed for consideration must, before being entered into the competition, be submitted to the National Student Publication Database (for theses, projects, dissertations and related academic works), as required under the federation's NERD Policy. A National Document Number (NDN) must be obtained for the submission before it can proceed to Laureate assessment or entry.
Students and academic staff should bring outstanding eligible works to the attention of their Institution-based Laureate Committee. Authorised Committee members should use their approved Committee account to assess and manage entries.
